San Antonio (TX) Hosts First Amendment Workshop

The Workshop is being held to help educate our community so they can be better informed on critically important topics that go to the core of what it means to be an American.
San Antonio AU believes the First Amendment represents the very cornerstone of our freedoms-freedoms that today are under constant attack from religious and political extremists. The Workshop, on Saturday, September 21, from 12-5 PM, is designed to help educate our community so they can be better informed on critically important topics that go to the core of what it means to be an American.

Rob Boston, AU communications director and the author of a number of books on church-state separation and the Religious Right, is the opening speaker.  Rob will set the tone for the day with his overview of the state of church-state separation in the United States.

Workshop speakers include: Pastor D. Leslie Hollon, on "Why People of Faith Care About Religious Liberty."  Texas Freedom Network Executive Director Kathy Miller (Austin) on "From Vouchers to Junk Science: First Amendment Challenges to Public Education."   Legal expert Donald Flanary III on "Why government sponsorship and/or participation in the National Day of Prayer is a violation of the 1st Amendment."  And from the National AU Headquarters in Washington, DC, Gregory Lipper on "When and why invocations at city council meetings are a violation of the 1st Amendment."

The Workshop takes place at TRI-Point, 3233 N. St. Marys St., in San Antonio. You won't want to miss this informative event!
